Westfield National Night Out 2024

Back in 1984, law enforcement agencies partnered up with watch groups, civic groups, crime prevention agencies, and volunteers to create the very first National Night Out. What started with 400 communities in just under half of the states in the US grew to include 38 million people in 16,000 communities across the entire United States in 2016. Experts predict that this year’s event, including Westfield National Night Out, may help bring those numbers up even higher in 2024.

What: Westfield National Night Out 2024
Where: Train Station Parking Lot (North Ave)
When: Tuesday, August 6th, from 6 pm to 9 pm
Admission: FREE

Westfield National Night Out 2024

This year’s National Night Out takes place in the Train Station Parking Lot. Come out to meet with our local law enforcement officers. Learn how you can help them keep our community safe. Guests get to enjoy great food, do some rock climbing, and listen to awesome music. Let the kids loose in the bounce house on-site. Participate in interactive activities and possibly win a prize in one of the evening’s giveaways. This event takes place no matter the weather. So, dress appropriately.

Sweet Sounds Downtown

Don’t forget. Every Tuesday brings us live music on not one, not two, but three (yes three) different stages in downtown Westfield. Sweet Sounds Downtown takes place from 6 pm to 9 pm each week through August 27th. Each week brings a new amazing performance to each stage. Enjoy a live concert (or all three) while you pick up something great at any of the shops or boutiques in the downtown area.

Cranford Summer Sounds Downtown

On Thursdays, head over to Cranford for the Summer Sounds Downtown concert series. This may not be as large as Westfield’s summer concert series. But that does not mean that it isn’t worth a visit. Each week’s concert features a new musical act from 6 pm to 8:30 pm in Eastman Clock Plaza. The final concert of this series takes place on September 5th.

Fanwood Fan Jam 2024

We love our music here in the Westfield area. Even with temperatures on the rise, we still enjoy time outdoors with good food, great friends, and lots of fun. If you happen to be in the area this weekend, you might want to go to the Fanwood Fan Jam 2024.

Every year, organizers create an amazing line-up of activities, food, and fun for Fan Jam. This year is no exception. If you love cars, come see the classic car show hosted by Hot Rod Mike. Listen to live music performed by Higher Ground (gospel/country/blues/rock), The Funktown Band (soul/funk/pop), Christina & the Gents (rock/metal/pop), and Back 2 Mac (Fleetwood Mac tribute band).

All of this requires some stamina. Thankfully, several food vendors ensure a wide variety of choices. Whether you crave Korean, Mexican, good old-fashioned American, or some other kind of cuisine, there is something to suit everyone’s taste buds. Plus, beat the heat with a delicious ice cream or shaved ice. And slake your thirst with a refreshing lemonade or (for our 21 years and older crowd) something from the beer garden. Finally, don’t forget to visit vendor row to support our local artists and artisans.

Live Music Nearby

Don’t forget. Both Westfield and Cranford offer live music on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer. Westfield’s Sweet Sounds Downtown features three different musical acts on three separate stages every Tuesday night through the end of August. On Thursdays, head over to Cranford for their Summer Sounds Downtown series at the Eastman Clock Plaza through September 5th. It costs nothing to attend either event. Come support our local talent and our local businesses at the same time.

Westfield Sidewalk Sale 2024

Boy. So far, summer’s been pretty soggy. And it appears that this wet weather will continue for a bit. Partner that with rising temperatures and you really feel the humidity in the air. But the weather isn’t the only thing that’s hot. Downtown businesses offer their best deals of the summer at the annual Westfield Sidewalk Sale.

Westfield Sidewalk Sale 2024

Each year, businesses in the downtown area mark down their prices and set their merchandise out on the sidewalk for patrons to check out. This year, the annual sidewalk sale starts on Thursday, July 11th and continues to the end of the day on Sunday, July 14th. This provides the perfect opportunity to find a great birthday, anniversary, retirement, promotion, baby shower, or hostess gift. And if you want to start knocking gifts off your Christmas list super early, this sidewalk sale makes that easier than ever. Plus, you help support our local businesses. Don’t worry about any wet weather either. If Mother Nature decides not to cooperate, the deals move inside but the shopping continues.

Westfield Sweet Sounds Downtown

Other summertime fun in Westfield includes a live concert (or three) every Tuesday evening in July and August. Sweet Sounds Downtown features three different musical acts on three different stages throughout the Downtown Westfield area each and every week from 6 pm to 9 pm starting next Tuesday, July 9th. The public pays absolutely nothing to enjoy these amazing artists either. How great is that? Tuesday becomes the new date night with Downtown Westfield the new date night place to be this summer.

As the weather starts to dry up, we finally get to experience summer. While summer days may mean time at the pool or heading out to the beach, summer nights mean something totally different. For example, Westfield Sweet Sounds Downtown comes back for yet another season. And the talent shown is hotter than ever.

Make sure you stop by Eastman Clock Plaza between 6 pm and 8:30 pm for this spectacular treat for the ears. Or simply listen to the music wafting through the air as you visit Cranford’s local shops and boutiques in the area. Their doors remain open so you can enjoy the beautiful sounds as you shop.

Rock the Block Clark Street Fair 2024

Summertime is officially here! Time for outdoor fun. One of the fun things to do in our neighborhood is the Rock the Block Clark Street Fair taking place this weekend.

Where: Westfield Ave between Dawn Dr & Raritan Rd in Clark, NJ
When: Sunday, June 23rd from 10 am to 5 pm

Rock the Block Clark Street Fair 2024

This party features something for every member of your family, young and old. Like vintage automobiles? View classic cars up close and learn more about them from their owners at the car show. Like crafting? Visit crafter’s corner. Looking for a unique item for a birthday, anniversary, baby shower, retirement party, or just because? Grab your wallet and visit the dozens of local vendors on-site.

Eager for entertainment? Come see one of the bands, musical artists, dancing troops, and karate schools perform live. There’s even a Kids’ Zone for the little ones. They have the opportunity to ride the kiddie rides, frolic on the inflatables, hop aboard the wee-ones train, play games, and get their faces painted.

Of course, all of this builds up the appetite. Fortunately, several food trucks will be available to fill up your tank. And for the adults? A beer garden. You must have a valid ID to enter, purchase, and consume alcohol. Don’t leave home without it.

Parking

You may park for free at Arthur Johnson High School. However, keep in mind that Westfield Ave shuts down to automotive traffic for the event. So you will need to maneuver around that to get to the high school parking lot.

Cranford Summer Sounds Downtown 2024

I hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend. Mother Nature certainly put on a show. While the official start of summer is almost three weeks away, many people consider it already here. With temperatures in the upper 70s/low 80s soon, it looks like the perfect weather to kick off Cranford Summer Sounds Downtown 2024.

Cranford Summer Sounds Downtown 2024

Enjoy a live concert every Thursday evening (except July 4th) between 6 pm and 8:30 pm at Eastman Clock Plaza. Each week features a new extremely talented artist or band performing various types of music. This summertime event starts with Forget the Whale performing their pop/rock music versions on June 6th. Just be sure to bring your lawn chairs to listen in comfort. Just so you know, no tickets are required.

Fanwood Ladies Night Out 2024

Earlier this month, Westfield hosted their Ladies Night Out. And it was, like, a totally awesome night, too. Many shoppers chose to go with the ’80s theme in all of its neon-colored glory. In just a couple of weeks, our neighbors to the west plan their own night of fun with Fanwood Ladies Night Out.

Fanwood Ladies Night Out 2024

For one night only, participating shops and boutiques in the downtown Fanwood area open late for Ladies Night Out. Many of these businesses also offer special Ladies Night Out discounts. Additionally, you may run across a vendor or two set up on the sidewalks that line the downtown area providing specials of their own. Then, at the end of the night, enjoy a champagne reception involving a “tricky tray” to cap off the evening right. While it costs nothing to participate, you must RSVP to join in on the fun. Grab your best girlfriends and your credit card. Let’s go shopping!
