Have you done some spring cleaning in your house over the past few weeks? Do you have some clothing items that either you or your kids grew out of? Don’t toss them in the trash. Instead, bring them to the Cranford YMCA Clothing Drive 2025 and give them a new home.
The Cranford YMCA will be accepting clothing (men’s, women’s, and children’s of all sizes), shoes, accessories (belts, purses), bedding (linens, comforters, blankets, pillowcases), and towels. Additionally, they accept small toys, stuffed animals, strollers, scooters, and bicycles. Other items like books, games, large toys, pots and pans, sports equipment, glass, furniture, and appliances cannot be donated. Bring all donations to the front gate of the Cranford YMCA for drop off between 7 am and 3 pm on Tuesday, June 3rd. No donations will be accepted before or after those times. Thank you.
As you know, this weekend is Memorial Day weekend. How will you be spending it? BBQ with friends and family? Going to a parade? Stopping for a moment to acknowledge the sacrifice of the brave men and women who fought for our country in the past? How about doing all three? The Westfield Memorial Day 2025 celebration starts out with a solemn ceremony at Memorial Plaza. Then, a parade heads out to Mindowaskin Park for food and entertainment. After that, the American Legion Hall hosts a picnic with even more food and entertainment. If you plan on being in town for Memorial Day, come celebrate with the community.
I am grateful to all who entrusted me with your life-changing real estate moves and to all who referred me to your family and friends!

This year, Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 23rd. On this day, we officially honor those brave men and women who lost their lives fighting in service of our country. If you happen to be in the neighborhood that day, you can join in the Westfield Memorial Day 2025 Celebration with a parade and more.
Our local American Legion hosts its annual Memorial Day celebration with a solemn ceremony in Memorial Plaza. At the ceremony, they perform a presentation of colors, recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and follow that up with performances of both the National Anthem and America the Beautiful. After an opening prayer and guest remarks, there will be a presentation of wreaths, a musket salute, the playing of Taps, and a closing prayer.
Beginning at 10:45 am, the official Memorial Day parade heads out on E Broad St to Euclid and ends at Mindowaskin Park. From 11:30 am to 1 pm, guests are welcome to a community gathering which includes both food and entertainment. Finally, from 2 pm to 5 pm, there will be live music, more entertainment, and a picnic held at the American Legion Hall located at 1003 North Ave.
This Memorial Day celebration takes place come rain or shine. So, make sure you check the weather forecast before you venture out. Dress appropriately.

Almost 11% of all New Jersey residents experience food insecurity. That includes children. You can help alleviate some of this burden by joining in with the Stamp Out Hunger Westfield 2025 campaign.
How can you help Stamp Out Hunger? Well, gather up non-perishable food items (soup, vegetables, fruit, pasta, sauces, peanut butter, mac and cheese, etc.). Some pet food may also be acceptable. Any pet food collected will be distributed to local animal shelters. Please do not donate frozen items, homemade food, expired food, or anything in a glass container. Place them in a bag and put the bag out next to your mailbox on the morning of Saturday, May 10th. Then, when the US Postal Service comes by to drop off your mail, they’ll pick up the bag of food and take it with them. All food collected from this drive gets redistributed back into the community’s food pantries.
Once you place your donation by your mailbox, head out to the Tour of Notable Westfield Homes. This self-guided tour includes five distinctive Westfield homes for your viewing pleasure. At each home, guests are treated to live music, refreshments, and a chance to win a fun door prize. Tickets cost $50 if purchased in advance at Baron’s Drug Store (243 E Broad St) or $55 on the day of the event. All proceeds benefit the New Jersey Festival Orchestra.

Since 1983, the New Jersey Festival Orchestra’s talented musicians have been entertaining audiences. In addition to performing classical pieces, they mix in bits of popular culture to create a unique auditory experience. To help them continue their efforts, the Friends of NJ Festival Orchestra is hosting a very special fundraiser called the Tour of Notable Westfield Homes 2025.
The Friends of New Jersey Festival Orchestra hosts a special tour of five very distinguished Westfield homes on Saturday, May 10th. With the price of admission, each guest enjoys live music at each stop, refreshments, and a chance at winning a door prize. So far, they have revealed three of the five homes scheduled for the tour. First, a Tudor-style Mimi and Hill-curated home located on one of the most beautiful streets in the city. Next, a 1917 Dutch Colonial featured in the April edition of Connect Magazine. Finally, a 1926 ASID Design Excellence award-winning Colonial that has been meticulously remodeled by KBK Interior Design founder Kingsley Belcher Knauss.
Tickets for this self-guided tour cost $50 if purchased before the event. If you wait until the day of the tour, they cost an additional $5 each. You may purchase them online here or in person at Baron’s Drug Store (243 E Broad St).
Just a quick reminder. Westfield’s Annual Spring Fling event takes place this Sunday, May 4th on Central Ave. Come enjoy live music, great food, carnival rides, kids’ games, and more. You might even spot a dinosaur or two roaming around the streets. Sounds like it’s going to be a blast. You aren’t going to want to miss a moment.

Earth Day takes place on Tuesday, April 22nd. Since its inception in 1970, Earth Day has always been a day to stop and think about how our daily lives impact the planet. According to the EPA’s latest statistics, over 290 million pounds of waste enter US landfills each year. That amounts to almost 5 lbs of waste per person every single day. You can help reduce this waste by joining the Scotch Plains Freecycle Market.
The freecycle market happens in two stages: donation and shopping. Donation times can only be done by appointment between now and April 24th. Visit the Scotch Plains Community Pass website to schedule your drop-off time. However, you need to schedule a time sooner rather than later. They will shut down donation drop-off earlier than April 24th if all appointment times fill up.
As for shopping, that takes place on Saturday, April 26th. As the name suggests, freecycle items come free of charge. Sift through all donated items and take whatever you need at no cost to you.
When looking around your Scotch Plains home for things to donate, keep an eye out for these items in particular and make sure they are in good working order:
Unfortunately, they will not accept books, glass items, clothing, accessories, electronics, or bicycles. Thank you.
Because of the inclement weather last weekend, organizers postponed Westfield’s Easter Egg Hunt to this weekend. It takes place at Mindowaskin Park tomorrow (April 19th) from noon to 2 pm. If you missed securing a spot before last weekend, I’m sorry. There are no spots available. But if you did manage to make your reservation in time, your reservation is still good. Have fun.
Cranford’s Easter Egg Hunt happens this Saturday as well at Eastman Clock Plaza. Visit the Cranford Spring Hop website. Then, choose your preferred time slot (noon to 2 pm or 2 pm to 4 pm) and purchase your desired number of tickets.
Finally, the last day to see the entries in this year’s Cranford Peeps-Tacular is Sunday, April 20th. Several businesses in Downtown Cranford put these entries on display in their shops. While you’re there, make sure to take a look around at what each shop has to offer. Please support our local businesses.

This weekend looks a bit wet (which affects some of the outdoor events happening in the area). With Easter happening next Sunday, we have a couple of bunny-related events taking place in town: the Cranford Peeps-Tacular and the Spring Hop. Which one do you think you’ll be participating in?
Entries for the Cranford Peeps-Tacular have already been received. But that does not mean that it’s too late for you to share in the fun. Dozens of Peep displays popped up around Downtown Cranford starting on Monday, April 7th. Take a stroll along the downtown streets to see what exciting Peep-xhibits local businesses and organizations put together for this year. The exhibits will be on public display through Sunday, April 20th.
On Saturday, April 19th, the always-popular Cranford Spring Hop takes place at the Eastman Clock Plaza. Guests have two different times to choose between: 12 pm to 2 pm or 2 pm to 4 pm. This allows organizers to accommodate more kids. Children will “hunt” for eggs at over 15 local businesses. Additionally, each child receives one very special Golden Egg. Tickets cost $15 per person (+ handling fee) and can be purchased online here. Each price of admission comes with a $5 gift card to any downtown Cranford business as well as an Easter basket. Sounds like fun to me.
The Easter Egg Hunt in Westfield has been postponed. Instead of taking place tomorrow, it will happen next Saturday (April 19th) in Mindowaskin Park. Unfortunately, tickets have sold out. However, if your household includes a child with a disability (either physical or mental), you may still sign them up to participate. Simply visit the event website here. And remember. This event costs nothing to attend.

Wait. Did that say “hunts” as in more than one hunt? Yes. You read that right. There will be two different Scotch Plains Easter Egg Hunts this year: one at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA and the other at Shady Rest Country Club
.
First up? The FSP YMCA hosts their annual Easter Egg Hunt next Saturday, April 5th. Walk around the FSP YMCA’s campsite to find hidden decorated eggs. Each egg includes a fun prize hidden inside. The fun begins at 10 am with kids crafts. Then, from 10:45 am to 11:15 am, kids get the opportunity to search for those eggs. After the hunt concludes, organizers put together some fun family-themed activities until noon. Don’t forget to purchase a raffle ticket for your chance to win a Nintendo Switch. To participate, each family need only donate $25. Spots are limited. So sign up here now.
Now on to the following weekend (April 12th). The Scotch Plains Department of Parks and Recreation hosts their annual Easter Egg Hunt. However, this year it will be held at a new location: the Shady Rest Country Club (820 Jeruselum Rd). Only kids ages eight and under may participate. Plus, it’s free. Just bring your Easter basket with you. Gates open at 10 am, with the hunt to start promptly at 10:15 am. In case of rain, the Easter Egg Hunt will be postponed until Sunday, April 13th.
Westfield’s Easter Egg Hunt also takes place on Saturday, April 12th. Tickets for all age groups have already sold out. However, if you happen to have a special needs child in your household, don’t fret. Tickets remain available for them. But you must register online ahead of time in order to participate.
