It’s now October. For other parts of the country, that usually means Halloween. For Westfield, it means that it’s time for AddamsFest.
What: AddamsFest 2025
Where: All over Westfield
When: All October long
AddamsFest 2025
Special Date Events
Addams Family Fun Day – On Sunday, October 19th, Quimby Street turns into a family playground. From 10 am to 2 pm, there will be pumpkin painting, pumpkin carving, cartoonist Dan Misdea, DJ Spinners, and bubbles. Organizers encourage guests to come dressed up as either Morticia or Wednesday to embrace this year’s femme fatale theme.
Cemetery Tours – The historic Presbyterian Church offers lantern tours of its burial grounds on October 11th and 12th from 5 pm to 6:30 pm. No tickets needed. Tours run every 10 minutes.
Charlie’s Ale Garden – This event takes place at the Westfield Armory on Saturday, October 18th. Several local bands perform live, with Saved by the 90s headlining the evening’s entertainment. Of course, as the name suggests, there will be beer. And food trucks provide a variety of dishes to keep your bellies full. Tickets cost $30 each and are on sale now.
Weekly
Wednesday Night Crawlers – Guess what day of the week this event falls on? Shout out to Miss Wednesday Addams, of course. Every Wednesday (starting on Oct 8th), several downtown bars and restaurants offer Addams family-inspired cocktails. Some of the participating locations include: 16 Prospect, Addams Tavern, Chez Catherine, Ferraro’s, Limani, and Maize.
All Month Long
Be Witched Selfie Stop – Set up at Quimby and Elm Streets. Get your camera phone out to snap a pic with this interactive counterpart to the Bewitched/Elizabeth Montgomery statue in Salem, MA.
Central Ave Mural Gallery – Beginning in 2021, the Central Ave underpass has provided space for local artists. It was originally conceived as an ever-changing backdrop. This month, you will find several of Charles Addams’ characters portrayed among the other murals lining the Central Ave Mural Gallery.
Floating Addams Family Home – Where? Mindowaskin Park. This year, designers used the local Presbyterian Church as inspiration. Photo-taking is encouraged.
Wicked Windows of Westfield – As you walk around Downtown Westfield’s shops and boutiques, take a moment to admire the Charles Addams-inspired artwork in the windows. Dozens of our downtown businesses got into the spirit of the festival with Addams Family characters. And take a look upwards. You might spot some familiar characters hanging out on the street lamps, too.
AddamsFest Masquerade Ball
As of the writing of this post, there were still some tickets left for Morticia & Gomez’s Masquerade Ball. That is shocking because they normally sell out well ahead of the event. The ball itself is next Friday (October 10th). Tickets cost $125 each. If you want to join the fun at the James Ward Mansion, get your tickets now.
I am grateful to all who entrusted me with your life-changing real estate moves and to all who referred me to your family and friends!
